We have not seen very many shotguns that have the workmanship of this 1850's Belgian Pinfire Double Barrel. The combination of fine engraving, carved buffalo horn, hand filed metalwork, and high quality French Walnut make this gun a work of art as well as a fine shotgun. The grip behind the trigger guard and the lever that opens the action are both made from hand carved buffalo horn. The engraved receiver and lockplates have two pheasants, two dogs, and a stag engraved on them. The action is tight and both locks function smoothly. The 29 inch barrels still have most of the damascus pattern visible and the bores are good with only some light corrosion and no dents or delamination. Everything works 100% like it is supposed to. Most anyone would appreciate this fine shotgun as a work of art that would be nearly impossible to duplicate today.
