Here we present an Iver Johnson Safety Automatic Top Break Double Action Revolver in .32 S&W, made in the early 20th century in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Iver Johnson & Martin Bye both cut their teeth with Ethan Allen, then started their own company in 1871. The company continued to operate until 1993. This revolver was designed to be small and concealable for self-defense in the years leading up to the Roaring Twenties.
The top of the barrel is marked “IVER JOHNSON ARMS & CYCLE WORKS/FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A.”
The overall condition is very good. The original blue finish is 75% with a dark brown patina making up the balance. The markings are clear and legible. The bore is clean and bright with strong rifling. The original hard rubber grips feature the trademark owl face and are in good condition. There is a chip off the bottom of the left panel. Front sight is absent. The action on this is functioning, though the trigger return spring is weak and must be manually reset.
