Description:
Originally issued in 1918 in a "military blue" finish for World War 1 service, this revolver went back to a U.S. Gov't arsenal after WW1 ended for refurbishment and was then put back into military service.  During the government rebuild process it was likely parkerized over the original blue finish, and also had the original grips swapped out for another set in inventory.  This Colt likely saw service in the interwar years before the start of World War 2, and was again issued for service during World War 2.  The Model 1917 was used by frontline troops and specialists alike, but the vast majority went to artillery and mechanized units (The 1917 is depicted in the movie FURY with Brad Pitt's tank commander character carrying one).  This Colt 1917 functions perfectly, and has a very good bore.  The action is perfectly "in time", and locks up tight with zero play in the cylinder.  The action is smooth and the trigger works perfectly just like the day it left the factory.  The arsenal parkering is still in very good shape overall.  It shows some holster wear and handling/storage marks but nothing too bad.  There are some small areas where surface rust has formed that you can see in the pictures, but this warhorse is still attractive.  The grips are solid and free from cracks or repairs.  This really is a historic revolver that likely saw combat in two World Wars.  If you have been looking for an affordable but original Colt Model 1917, this 1918 manufactured example would be a great choice.  You could shoot this one without hurting it's value as long as you take care of it. This Colt Model 1917 also comes with a black leather commercial holster which is pictured.
