Description:
Scarce Confederate original packet of Patt 53 rifle musket cartridges. For referece see page 263 of the new great Book "The English Connection" by Pritchard Jr. & Huey. The author state that these cartridges were available up to the 1970's but most examples were opened and the cartridges were sold as individual cartridges. This example shows all of its' original wrap, string and markings. This packet was found in a Nova Scotia seaport town that was a known jump off port for many blocade runners during the civil war.
