Description:
Her we have a very scarce box of cartridges especially for the Smith & Wesson or U.S. Military Collectors. An original sealed box of 12 "Martin" cartridges for the Smith & Wesson Army Revolver. Cal 44. This Frankford arsenal packet dated June 1871. The packet measures 3" by 1 3/8 by 1". The face shows clear printing and all original paper wrap save the left side seam hat is partially open. This is a scarce US military packet with a relatively low survival rate. There is tremendous article written by the noted Author Charles Pate in Vol 52 No 1 of the Smith & Wesson Collectors Association Journal. A 12 page piece that tells the whole story of this ammunition.
