Description:
A very scarce RICX type Police marked Revovler. This piece shows the city of Hamilton Canada City crest on the left side of the frame. In addition it is marked H.P.F. the finish rates as antique. 450 CF bore in the 4 3/8" barrel. The metal rates overall at 75 to 80% bright blue. There is no visible serial number other than 11 stamped twice on the rear cylinder face. The one piece checkered wood grips rate as excellent for reference see page 212 of "Webley Solid Frame Revolvers" by black, Davis and Michaud in the section of the work Ric Copies. This example is one of three Hamilton marked guns that we are aware of . This RIC is probably built from Belgium parts assembled in England a any Hamilton Ric is farscarcer than the Toronto marked RIC Revolvers. It would appear that very few were acquired for the Hamilton Police. It must also be a factor that the population of Hamilton in 1877 was very small compared to Toronto. There were only 32,641 residents of Hamilton in that year. This revolver is very scarce if not rare. An item for the Police, Ric or Webley Collector.
