Description:
Standard carbine configuration with 22 inch barrel chambered in 45-75 WCF caliber. Bore has shine and strong rifling with fine traces of scattered roughness. Action is fine. Barrel retains good original blue in the protected areas along the forearm with the balance a silver/gray patina. Original front sight with a replaced rear ladder sight. Receiver has thinning original blue in protected areas with the balance having turned a plum/brown on the left side and brown/silver/gray patina on the right side. Traces of case color on hammer and lever. Correct saddle ring is present. Wood is in good condition with the usual dings and usage mars. Buttstock has the "N.W.M.P." cartouche. On the bottom of the stock is a faint "APP 139" which stands for Alberta Provincial Police. Winchester factory letter and some paperwork showing that this carbine was in Order Number 19589 with 150 carbines and also that this one was assigned to H-Division of the N.W.M.P. This division was assigned to Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory during the gold-rush period. After 1914 the carbines from the Canadian Militia were sold as surplus. A chance to own a real piece of history!
