Description:
Scarce special order First Model 1873 rifle with 28 inch Heavy octagon barrel chambered in 44-40 WCF with full length mag and set trigger and a rifle style butt plate. Metal surfaces appear to have been cleaned long ago and are turning a gray patina. Bore has deep rifling with scattered light roughness throughout that would benefit from a good cleaning. Sights include a German silver blade front and the correct short sporting rear. Good action and a set trigger that works. Sharp markings. Wood is in good condition. Forearm has a repaired crack on the right side coming off the cap. Comes with factory letter verifying all features. Heavy barreled Winchesters are hard to find!
