Antique FOREHAND & WADSWORTH Side Hammer Revolver
1870s 22 Rimfire Pocket Revolver for Armed Citizen
Here we present an antique Forehand & Wadsworth Side Hammer Revolver Pocket Revolver, manufactured circa the 1870s. This revolver features 7 shots of .22 Rim Fire and would have been an alternative to the Colt Open Top or the S&W No. 1 revolvers. This design goes back to Ethan Allen’s original design and was manufactured by Allen’s sons-in-law: Sullivan Forehand & Henry C. Wadworth.
The overall condition is fair. 70% of the original nickel finish remains. The markings are clear and legible. The original rosewood grips show period wear, with a hairline crack on the left panel. The bore is clear and well-rifled. The hammer is mobile but will not catch in the cocked position.
