Description:
High quality Bavarian percussion double rifle in excellent condition. Right barrel has twist rifling, the left barrel has straight rifling (no twist). Right barrel measures approximately 0.550 and left barrel measures approximately 0.615.  Barrels are approximately 29” long and have a flat rib marked “Michael Miedl In Forsthart” in what appears to be platinum. The rifle has a set trigger for the right (twisted rifled) barrel. Bores appear very good to excellent in both barrels. Barrels have an adjustable rear sight and what appears to be an ivory front sight.  Length of pull is approximately 13 13/16”. Horn trigger guard extension.  Locks, tang, hammers, butt plate, patch box, wedge, trigger guard, and other metal trim is engraved with high quality scroll work and game animals on the locks, patch box, tang, and trigger guard.  Pheasant on right lock, hunting dog on left lock, capercaillie on trigger guard and red stag and hind on patch box. An owl is engraved on the tang between the hammers.  I expect (but do not know) that this is the owl of Minerva, the symbol of the Illuminati.  The Illuminati were founded in Bavaria and the the third degree of the Bavarian Illuminati was called Minerval or Brother of Minerva.  Patch box contains two bullets. Rifle is fitted for sling swivels. Nearly all of the exceptional, distinctive Damascus pattern remains on the barrels. Stock is nicely figured and in very good condition. Platinum bands around breech end of barrels.  Blocking safeties have been removed as was common at the time of use. The tang behind the hammers is drilled for what I assume was a folding aperture sight.  Ramrod is missing and a dowel rod has been substituted in its place.  A beautiful, high condition double rifle suitable for hunting big game and capable of firing shot from the straight, rifled left barrel.  $3,850 OBO plus $60 shipping.  PENDING
