This 1968 Colt Gold Cup National Match comes with an original box and all of the inserts that came with this pistol when new. The pistol retains 96 to 97% of the original gloss factory blue finish. It shows some high edge wear at the muzzle, on the slide, and on the slide stop and safety lever. This was likely due to some limited holster carry. The bore is in mint condition. There is no pitting or erosion, and the rifling still has nice sharp lands and grooves. The grips are in excellent condition. They show just a slight amount of wear but are free from cracks or repairs, and they have nice and tight gold Rampant Colt medallions inset into each panel. This was Colt's finest production target 1911 model. They came with match grade barrels, adjustable sights, and adjustable target style triggers. All of the parts were hand fit to make the tightest pistol possible with a super smooth action which would perform well in competitive target shooting. These pre "70 Series" Gold Cups are considered by many to be the most desireable of the Gold Cup National Match pistols that Colt produced. This Gold Cup comes with an original box that is not numbered and all of the paperwork including a test target that has not been shot. This Colt would be an excellent investment as well as a fun and accurate .45 to take to the range.
