Description:
Lord Ernest William Hamilton (1858-1939) was a United Kingdom soldier and statesman who served in the House of Commons from 1885 to 1892.  He became a Captain in the 11th Hussars.  I have included a photo of one of his fellow Hussars to show the beautiful uniforms they wore.  They were an elite group of men.  He was the 7th son of James Hamilton, 1st Duke of Abercorn, who was twice Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.  It is interesting to note that Lord Ernest's brother, James Hamilton (1838-1913), 2nd Duke of Abercorn, was Lady Diana's great-great grandfather.  Hamilton was the author of several books, two of which are included in sale .  The provenance of this sword is well documented by the Wilkinson Sword Company sales records which are still in existence (copy included in sale).  This beautiful Mameluke sword is in very nice condition (see photos).  Copies of all research documents included in sale.
