Description:
Reducing my collection. This is a J. Hughes English made double shotgun made likely in the post war period with 2 1/2" chambers, as correct. Also 28" barrels, I/C and Full chokes, straight grip and extractors. Shells in 1 oz. and 1 1/8 oz. are readilally available from RST in PA. The l.o.p. is 14", the drop at the comb 1 1/2" and the drop at the heel is 2 1/4" with slight cast off and it has a grooved butt. The bores are very good. It doesn't have engraving and the case colors are worn off. However the top lever is in the middle and the gun is tight. The numbers match. Thsi gun is vertually identical to the other J. Hughes I have listed but with a shorter length of pull. There is a repaired crack in the wood along the side of the top lever that is solid but visible and the buttstock is a bit beat up with some nicks and dents. It's a lively handling gun thatis very useable as a game gun. I will sent this to an FFL in a new hard case with a $25 charge(my cost) to prevent shipping damage like a broken stock. Buyer pays for shipping. Shoot a classic.
PS One of the pictures shows an orange look on the bottom of the receiver. It may look like rust but it's a reflection from the camera. There is NO rust on the gun..
