Description:
#4902 Colt 1851 Navy revolver, “U.S. Amry” issued 3rd Variation, 78XXX (1858) and having the desireable Hartford address, completely matching including the loading lever and overall a decent pre-Civil War militarily marked Navy. G-VG dirty bore that should clean quite a bit better, tight smooth action with no looseness in the barrel to frame junction, smooth mottled brownish-grey metal with some pitting on the left side near the grip junction (see photos) . The cylinder scene is about 30% good visible scene with another 30% or so being under the patina and dimly visible if you have a vivid imagination or own the gun!! Original grips with medium wear and dings and thus with no cartouches remaining. If not for the mottled appearance and the rather weak scene this would easily be a $2500 gun since martially marked Navies are relatively scarce. Pity …but still about VG as described. $1975
