Barrel length 5 ½” and gun his 10 ½” overall. We have sold many Japanese made early pistols but this one is very well made and well designed. One may ask how we know this is a Japanese made. We have 40 years’ experience dealing in hundreds of thousands of antique guns. This is a variant of Japanese revolvers we have seen in the past. Commodore Perry visited Japan in 1853 and brought several Colt revolvers as gifts for the Emperor. Not long after, some Japanese gun and armor makers started revolver manufacturing but on a very limited basis as noted by scarcity of Japanese revolvers. In his book Colt Brevette revolvers, Roy Marcot, the author shows only six examples. Mr. Marcot has viewed the revolver and concurs with us that it is of Japanese manufacture. Gun is in very good condition. SOLD Antique: Yes |
