Description:
Oil on canvas;  Image size 28"w x 18"h; Sight size 32 1/2" x 23"h. Earl Carpenter began by concentrating on painting the Hopi and Navajo, "but when I came too close to the poverty, the superstitions, and the conflicts under which those people lived, I couldn't paint them anymore. I can't paint a subject unless I love it." His first direction was abstract; recognition came when he switched to realistic landscapes, and now his oils are in collections in 38 states. Profiled in Southwest Art, in January 1981, and written up in Samuel's Contemporary Western Artists. Framed.
