Description: Brown Manufacturing Co. Dual Ignition Ballard Patent Sporter Rifle This is one of only an estimated 1,700 Ballard patent firearms manufactured by Brown Manufacturing Co. of Newburyport, Mass., in 1869-1873. This one appears to be one of the military rifles modified into sporting arms by Williams Read & Sons after the close of Brown. It features the scarce dual ignition system, German silver blade front sight with steel dovetailed base, "No 46" ahead of the notch and folding leaf rear sight, matching serial numbers on the top of the round receiver and barrel, under barrel manual ejector, and smooth stock and forearm. Manufacturer: Brown Manufacturing Co Model: Ballard Patent BBL: 27 1/2 inch round. The case color and blue are very strong. The walnut stock and forearm are also in very nice condition. All in all this is a very nice and hard to find early cartridge rifle. The shell ejector knob has been replaces. This is an Antique and can be sent to your address where the law allows.
