Vickers Dutch Contract Lugers of this quality are difficult to find due to both the small number of guns produced (approximately 10,000) and the terrible environmental conditions they endured while used in the Dutch East Indies (sweltering heat, humidity, and often being near salt water).  Almost all of the Vickers Lugers were arsenal refurbished in the time frame 1925 to 1933 and this gun is one of those, having been refurbished in 1930.  The Vickers Dutch Contract Luger offered for sale here was made between 1915 and 1917.  This 9mm pistol has a blank chamber area while the front toggle link is stamped “VICKERS/LTD”.  The left side of the barrel extension is stamped with a “Crown/W” proof and both sides of the extractor are marked “GELADEN”.  The safety area is marked “RUST”.  The top of the barrel is marked with the refurbish date “1930” just forward of the chamber and a “GS” stamp further toward the muzzle indicating the armorer replaced the barrel.  The underside of the barrel is stamped with the pistol serial number (6137).  The British “Crown/V” proof is on top of the breechblock and front toggle.  A brass plate was correctly soldered to the left side of the frame that has been stamped “M.L. Kdj./207”.  There is no stock lug on the back strap of the frame since the Luger is a Model 1906. It is fitted with a grip safety and has the original course checkered walnut grips that are marked with a “GS” proof and the serial number “6137” on the back of each grip.  It is fitted with an original nickel-plated magazine with an unmarked/unnumbered wooden base.  This exceptional Luger is complete with an original Vickers/Dutch contract leather holster and a combination cleaning rod/oiler that fits in the pouch along the front edge of the holster.  The front flap of the holster is marked with a circled “Z” proof over “CW/N/736/A L” on the outside.

Condition:  This rare example has about 95% of its original arsenal refurbished blue finish with some light edge and high-spot wear (mainly on the side plate ) and about 60% of the straw finish remaining on the small parts. The side plate has a somewhat rough surface while the gun overall shows some minor pinpricks under the arsenal reblue finish in isolated areas.  The grips are a nice distinct dark color showing only minor handling marks.  The holster is in exceptional condition, with all the leather still strong and smooth, and the stitching is all intact and tight.  The cleaning rod/oiler is in excellent condition as well.   Finally, the special magazine for the Dutch Luger is included with this Vickers gun and it is in mechanically excellent condition.  The release to remove the base from the tube (to facilitate cleaning the magazine) works as designed. Rock Island in its April 2015 catalog stated: “This (SN6137 Vickers Luger) is a really exceptional high condition Dutch contract Luger rig that rates way above the rest of surviving examples!”

A USPS Money Order or a Cashier/Teller Check is my preferred method of receiving payment.  Personal checks will be accepted, but will require 14 days after receipt before shipping the pistol to make sure the check clears.  The gun will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail.  All shipping costs will be in addition to the winningamount.  I am a private collector with no sales tax required.  No international shipments.
