Sears/Ted Williams Model 400 12 Gauge over under shotgun. This gun was made by Winchester in Japan for Sears stores, and dates to the 1970s. It is identical to the Winchester Model 101. The Model 400 has 26 inch barrels with vent rib and front and mid bead sights. Chokes are fixed: Modified (over) and Improved Cylinder (under). It has a single selective trigger, auto ejectors, tang safety and a beautiful checkered pistol grip stock. Serial number is S156637, and appears in four places on the shotgun: receiver, barrel block and twice inside the forend.
his shotgun is in excellent, almost as new condition. Bores are mirror bright. Bluing is 99%, with no dings or scratches. The checkered stock and forend are excellent with just a few minor handling marks. The gun has been shot very little, in fact the action is very tight to open. The left side of the barrel is stamped "Ted Williams", and the buttpad is also marked "Ted Williams". Williams, the former major league baseball star, was a spokesman for Sears Roebuck Co. and his name appeared on several shotguns, rifles and other sporting goods sold by the company in the 1960s and 1970s. Sears sold dozens of models of Ted Williams guns, this model is one of the nicest produced, and very hard to find.
