EASTERN OHIO PERCUSSION .36 CAL. LONG RIFLE SIGNED "LB" ATTRIBUTED TO LEMUEL BROWN OF WASHINGTON CTY, CIRCA 1830'S. 55” o/a with 39” octagon barrel signed “LB” in script. Tiger maple stock and brass mounts and patchbox. Lock plate stamped “T. & C. NEAVE/CINCINNATI”. Double set trigger. Very good and all original overall with the exception of the nipple which is a modern replacement. Original lock with all the original parts. Metal with the original dark patina and stock lightly cleaned long ago. Triggers and lock in working order. Probably by Lemuel Brown of Washington County. A signed rifle with many similarities is pictured on page 99, Volume V of Don Hutzlar’s very extensive work OHIO GUNSMITHS & ALLIED TRADESMEN. Very similar box, triggers and bolster and lock plate mortise.
