This was one of about 10,000 produced in a short run for the U.S. Army. The Remington Rolling Block design was simple, rugged, and reliable. It was adopted by numerous foreign countries in the late 20th Century as well. This specimen features three cartouches. Small, single letter inspector marks can be seen throughout. The overall condition is good. The frame still bears visible case colors with freckling. The balance of the metal surfaces bears a smooth, dark brown patina. The markings are legible. The walnut stock has been lightly refinished with the cartouches still visible. The bore is in good condition with bright surfaces and good rifling. The action is strong.
