Description:
This is a very fine Engraved Paul Jaeger Mauser Model 98 bolt action rifle The barrel is marked "PAUL JAEGER -JENKINTOWN PA" on top and "6MM REM." on the left at the breech. "MOD 98" is marked on the left side of the receiver, and "1888" is marked in the upper tang recess. The receiver, tail piece, handle upper tang, grip cap, trigger guard, and floor plate all feature Germanic leaf engraving likely executed by master engraver Claus Willig with silver wire borders and a bear baring its teeth is plated in silver on the floor plate. The bolt knob is checkered, and the bolt, bolt release, and follower are jeweled. The rifle comes without fixed sight, and the receiver is taped for scope mounts. The rifle is mounted on a Monte Carlo stock with rosewood forend cap, swivel studs, and a checkered steel buttplate.
