Description:
Pictured is a very early "Allen & Thurber Double Pistol" that has the main spring tension screw in the handle. This pistol has a U - Shaped main spring. .36 caliber, with 4 inch barrels. The nipples are in good shape and the grips are nice. The metal has a dark, aged brown finish, wlth light visable markings.
This pistol, serial # 610, is pictured in the book "ETHAN ALLEN AND ALLEN AND WHEELOCK their guns and their legacy" on page 44. Estimated at between 500 and 1000 made in the 1850's. these pistols were very successful and copied by other manufactures.
