Description:
BEAUTIFUL AND TASTEFUL CUSTOM WINCHESTER LOWALL LIGHT/MEDIUM SPORTER IN CLASSIC .218 MASHBURN BEE CALIBER. I received this rifle from a gentleman whose good friend was having this rifle built. Sadly, he passed away while the project was progressing, so he had it completed and put it up for sale. The action is the early leaf spring type with ADJUSTABLE SINGLE SET TRIGGER. The dark reddish-brown high grade walnut has beautiful figure and color to it. It also has a blued steel grip cap. Both the stock and forend have very sharp and finely executed checkering with a diamond around the forend screw. There is also an ebony forend tip and the forend is a nicely round sporter contour with expertly reduced “rebate ring” in the last half inch of the forend where it meets the receiver- a class act! There is also a cheek piece with accent or shadow line. All metal has a nicely applied blue finish. The new barrel (the previous owner said it was from a barrel maker in Kalispell, Montana- Lilja or McGowen perhaps?) is a medium weight 26” round with target crown. There are no holes or dovetails cut for sight or scope mounting as this rifle is brand new and never fired. I was told that some .218 Bee cases had been fire-formed in the chamber without the use of bullets- he didn’t know the whereabouts of the formed cases. The butt pad is a thin Pachmayr with a black spacer. This slim varminter weighs 8 lbs. and is unmarked. Overall quality is excellent. This rifle would cost twice this price to have made!
