John Dickson & Son Self-Opener Round Body Game Gun. Sn# 50xx. Circa 1900. 12ga. 29" 1 1/8 oz. Nitro proofed tight pattern damascus barrels. Top game rib marked "John Dickson & Son 63 Princes Street Edinburgh" and "1". Double underlug & third fastener locking system. Choked IC/M. Wall thickness: .028"/.022". 2 3/4" chambers. 100% fine and full coverage scroll engraved patented round body boxlock receiver. Rare variation with large name marked panels "JOHN DICKSON & SON PATENT" on both frame sides. Automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold. Double triggers. Nicely figured hand rubbed oil finish english walnut straight grip and splinter forend stock. Checkered butt. LOP: 14 1/2" x 1 3/8"DAC x 2 1/8" DAH x 1/4" Cast off. Weight: 6lbs 4oz
Condition: Gun is in very nice overall original condition. Barrels retain most all original brown with miscellaneous light handling marks throughout. Bores are clean and bright. Barrels ring true. Engraving remains crisp throughout with softening on trigger guard tang. Traces of case color remain in protected areas. Stock finish is very good with scant handling marks. Checkering is very good and remains shaped. Gun tight and on-face. Ejectors in time.
