Description:
The 470 Royal was designed in December of 1988 by R.J. Brill, President of Royal Arms International. The cartridge was designed to surpass the 470 Nitro in energy and velocity since R.J could not fit the 470 Nitro in the new BBK 02 square bridge magnum action he had his heart sit on. After studying large bore ballisitics he finally decided that the 475 diameter needed a larger stronger case than the 470 Nitro and a sharper shoulder to creat a more efficient round.
Basically the 470 Royal is an enlarged version of the 338 Win. Mag. Belocity with a 500 grain bullet is 2370 and when you move up to a 600 grain bullet it is pushing along at 2490. Both loads stay below 50000 cup.
Using a 505 Gibbs case the neck is reduced and shoulder is shortened using one pass thru the sizing die. The neck is then trimmed to creat an overall case lenght of 3.110.
Dies bullets and loaded ammo as well as the factory drawings and load info come with the rifle.
The rifle itself is based on the BBK 02 Square Bridge Mauser action fitted with a 25 inch custom barrel and set in some of the nicest wood your likely to come across... Very few of these were ever built and that is a shame as the quality of the fit and finish is nothing short of wonderful. This rifle is in the white so you can choose what route you want to go on the finish.
