Description:
Mauser sporting rifle equipped with a ramped blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 200 meters. The left side of the barrel at the breech end is marked "KAL. 22 LANG FUR BUCHSEN" followed by the serial number and "459" and crown over "B", "U" and "G" proof marks. The left side of the receiver is marked with a crown "B" and "U" proof followed by the matching serial number and "MAUSER_WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF A.N.". The top of the receiver is marked with the Mauser banner and the right rear "DEUTCHES SPORTMODELL". Mounted with a smooth one piece walnut pistol grip stock. Missing cleaning rod and safety. There are no signs that the safety was ever installed. Complete with what appears to be the original brown leather sling.
This rifle is in spectacular near new factory condition. Almost all of the factory high polish commercial blue finish remains on the metal parts with only slight high point wear on moving parts. The stock retains nearly all of the factory varnish. The butt plate has some slight finish loss but retains most of the high polish blue finish. The bore is mint. This is the highest condition pre-war Mauser training rifle that I have seen. The missing safety and cleaning rod are the only defects.
