Etched Panel Colt Model New Line .22 Revolver
19th Century Pocket Carry Revolver
Here we present an antique Colt New Line .22 Revolver First Model, made in 1876 in Hartford, Connecticut. This revolver was designed to be a small self-defense revolver for stowing in one’s pocket in the 19th Century. Spur Trigger “Suicide Special” manufacture was fierce during this time, and Colt struggled to compete against the countless small shops making very similar, less expensive revolvers, though not necessarily of the same quality.
The left side of the barrel has “COLT NEW 22” etched into it. The top of the barrel has the makers mark, “COLTS PT.F.A.MFG.CO/HARTFORD.CT.U.S.A.” The left side of the frame has “22 CAL” just below the cylinder. The serial number and short cylinder flutes place this in the first 16,000 of about 55,000.
The overall condition is very good. The original finish has some light pitting, due to age. The markings are legible. The original rosewood grips are in very good condition, showing little wear. The bore is clear. The action on this revolver is strong. This is a great little conceal and carry from Colt!
