RARE HARPERS FERRY U.S. MODEL 1803 FLINTLOCK RIFLE DATED 1818. .54 caliber rifled 36” octagon/round barrel with Harpers Ferry proofs at the left breech. Original front and rear sights. Lock stamped “HARPERS/FERRY/1818” and with the “EAGLE/U.S. SHIELD” motif. Stock stamped opposite the lock with script “JS” and “US” Harpers Ferry Inspector’s stamps. Excellent plus example as one of the best reconversions we know of. Very hard to tell from original. Otherwise all original and fine. Barrel with original plum brown mixed with dark patina. Stock with the original finish and very sharp edges. Mellow unpolished brass patch box and mounts. Nice visible inspector’s stamp. Original ramrod. Perfect working order and good rifling. Very handsome example.
