Description:
A nice original Quist made M40 combat helmet in size 64 with an original 44 pattern Marsh camo cover. The helmet itself was refurbed by the Germans during the last year or two of the war. At that point the decals were probably stripped off, the shell was repainted, and a new liner was installed if needed. The helmet was then re-issued with no decals. It is all original except for the chin-strap which appears to be a post-war replacement. The camo cover is a scarce piece. It is a "Marsh Pattern" camo helmet cover used by the German Army. The German name for this camo is "Sumpfmuster". While it was most often seen on the Eastern Front by the later stages of the war it was in use on both major fronts. The Germans were pioneers in the use of camo. This is a very nice original piece that displays very nicely.
