Description:
The M43 field cap was introduced for wear by all ranks on June 11th 1943 as a replacement cap for the other field caps then in use. Officer's ranks were distinguished by piping on the crown of the cap. This German Army example is in excellent original condition. The cap shows very little wear and is clean on the inside and outside. It has one small moth hole which is pictured. The leather sweat band is clean and still flexible. All of the stitching seems to be intact. It is a size 57 cap which is ink stamped along with the date 1943 and RBR number in the interior top of the cap. The Nazi eagle trapezoid patch is in fine condition as is the silver bullion piping identifying it as an officer's cap and the two buttons fastening the neck flap.
