Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: Founded in 1934, the RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) or Reich's Labor Service was instituted as a "make-work program" to help pull Germany out of the depression. The RAD taught German men and women job skills as well as the merits of national socialism. The enlisted men were issued hewers while the officer's were issued this dagger/hewer. This example was made by the well known and prolific Alcoso firm. it features an eagle head pommel, white celluloid gripe plates, and the RAD logo on the ctrossguard of the shovel over wheat shafts. The blade is etched with the RAD motto "Arbeit Adelt" (labor in Ennobling or Work Ennobles). This example has been further decorated by the addition of inlaid red stones for the eagle's eyes and a pattern of blue beads in one of the grip panels.
