Description:
Original U.S. Model 1819 Hall Breech Loading flintlock rifle. Mfg at Harpers Ferry Armory. Breech block marked: "J. H. HALL H. FERRY U.S. 1838". 52 CALIBER. Fine condition overall. Metal retains much original brown lacquer finish. Walnut stock fine, unsanded. Mechanics are fine and operate perfectly. Breech pivots upward for loading. Rifle has original sling swivels and cleaning rod. Bore is in fine condition. This rifle was well cared for. Many converted to percussion for Civil War, here is one still in the original flint. A collectors prize. Not warranted safe to shoot due to its age. Early U.S. military breech loading arm. Notes on the Hall rifle;
1). First U.S. military breechloader. 2). Early military rifle, not a musket. 3). First U.S. military arm with interchangeable parts. 4). First breechloader adopted and issued by any world gov't. 4). Built at U.S. national armory, Harpers Ferry, VA.
