Description:
Sold...FS...A fine high condition and rare Remington Model 1871 Rolling Block rifle chambered in 45-70 Government. This is a full length civilian version with a case colored frame and blue barrel. The barrel measures 35 1/8 inches to the breech face. Vivid original case colors remain on the frame and 98%+ of the original blue remains on the barrel. The bore is mint...shiny with strong lands and grooves and no corrosion. The stocks are excellent in their original finish with no cracks or repairs of any kind. Fire blue remains on many of the screws including the rear long range ladder sight. Sling swivel bases and swivels remain in original bright blue finish also. All the original blueing remains on the trigger. Almost all the original high polish blue remains on the hammer and breech block. The original ramrod remains in excellent condition in original finish also with no issues. Case colors remain on the steel forend cap. Very crisp untouched Remington patent and address on the top tang. This beautiful Rolling Block could possibly be unfired. There were supposedly a small contract of these 45-70's made for a private contract here in the U.S....they are seldom seen or come up for sale. A rare high condition Remington Rolling Block rifle in the most desirable 45-70 caliber for an advanced Remington collector. This antique rifle would have been made in the mid to late 1870's...possibly in the early 1880's. This rifle could easily be the centerpiece of an advanced Remington Rolling Block collection.
