Description:
72 cal; good stock, 20'' barrel, Lock marked 'SUHL 1839'. Appears to have been converted to carbine length and has had a brass rod and iron saddle ring attached to the left side of the gun. Metal has light to medium pitting overall. Brass fittings. These German muskets are thought to have been imported during the American Civil War and used by the Confederacy. Possibly conversions from flintlock to percussion for this purpose. It is unknown what periood this particular gun might have been converted to a carbine. Caliber is approximate.
