Description:
72 cal; good stock, 40'' barrel, Lock marked 'NEIFSE 1823'. Pitting around the bolster area and front of hammer. Stock has old stress cracks at the buttplate. Brass fittings. The number '29' is stamped on the barrel and small parts. These German muskets are thought to have been imported for use by the Confederacy during the American Civil War. These may be conversions from flintlock to percussion for this purpose.
