The lock plates are marked T. or J. Adams and the 36 inch wire damascus barrels are Birmingham proofed underneath on both barrels. The barrels have not been cut and the original bead is still there just worn down. The barrels have no dents, no bulges and would be shootable with a good cleaning. The left side hammer is missing. The walnut stock was broke long ago at the wrist and was crudely repaired with nails...it is still held together fairly tight. There is hardly any wood missing so it would be an easy repair for the professional gunsmith. This fowler was made between 1810-1820. It is missing the ramrod but all the pipes are still there. The iron buttplate and trigger guard are in good shape and solid. This fowler weighs about 15 pounds. The fowler was probably used here in the gunning days of waterfowl. Original flintlock double barrel fowlers are rare especially in 8 gauge...this fowler could be restored to original flintlock also. This is an antique and can be shipped directly to you.
