Where have all the Fox 20ga. guns gone? The shooting public caught on to the delightful handling characteristics of the A.H. Fox 20, bought them all up, and they aren't selling them. If you have been following internet sales of Fox shotguns, especially 20ga. guns, you will have noticed 2 things; there are way fewer being offered for sale and the price has risen dramatically. There are less than a handful of graded 20ga. guns in any condition being offered for sale. When you consider there were only 2379 A Grade Fox 20 ga. guns ever made, only about 800 with ejectors, and 3400 graded 20ga. Fox guns ever made, IN ALL GRADES, you understand why they are so hard to find. This Philly Fox, sn201658 made in 1922, is a very rare find as it has very desirable 30” number 3 weight barrels and weighs in at an amazing 5lbs. 13oz. This gun has been fully restored to new including Turnbull Restoration’s metal finishes and hand rubbed oil finish on the wood. All parts are original to the gun. This Fox matches the factory records just as she left the factory still retaining F/F chokes (we can alter the chokes to your liking within a few days of purchase), 2 ¾” drop at heel, mirror bores, automatic ejectors, and crisp double triggers. For those of you that hunt upland birds and appreciate light, dynamic handling guns with long barrels, this is a very rare find. In today’s gun world restored guns are very much in demand if done properly, and Doug Turnbull restorations are premium guns. Keep in mind that the cost of a full restoration exceeds $3000 and takes a year before you get your gun back. That has all been done already with this gun. The process of restoration allows us to strip the gun to its smallest parts, clean, polish, inspect and lubricate all parts, and provide a “VFI CERTIFIED GUN” 90-day mechanical warranty on this gun. It is like new inside and out. There are few AE 20ga. Fox guns coming up for sale and the price will continue to grow. This is an investment grade gun that will provide shooting enjoyment for your upland pursuits and sporting clays for years to come and continue to increase in value as you enjoy its use.
