A fantastic vet bring back from a veterans estate. This gun is from a short factory run between 1943 and 1944 when the Nazis had control of the Baretta factory. The allies had invaded Italy at this point and the Italians had surrendered. The Nazis then took over northern Italy and those still loyal to the captured Mussolini joined the Nazis. A new government was formed under Nazi control which was called the Italian Socialist Republic. The new army was named the National Republican Army.
This gun was produced under Nazi control and bears the National Republican Army proof mark. A Crown over a Lion in a Circle. Serial numbers 509,000 to 515,000 were delivered to the German High Command in control of northern Italy. Further, they did not get the 4 UT stamp.
The guns from this lot were given a high polish commercial. The gun's finish is at the worst case, 99+% original. The loss if any is from some very slight edge silvering. The rest of the gun is virtually flawless. Not a pin prick, rust spot, rub mark or scratch anywhere. The tell-tale grips straps appear factory new with no graying anywhere. All numbers match.
The steel framed black plastic grips are as factory new. The slide rails, feed ramp, and bolt face show no evidence of any use. The barrel like the rest of the gun is factory new. The bore is sunshine bright with razor sharp rifling, not a touch of frost anywhere. The gun comes with one finger grip magazine, also flawless and one original Beretta holster, the back stamped "L. Bl . 48.". It is in great condition. No split seams or crackling anywhere. It must have been some high ranking Nazi's Cabinet Queen until liberated by the bring back vet. A rare and magnificent acquisition for the critical collector......$1695.
