It is a 12-gauge shotgun with a Cylinder bore that is mirror-shiny. This WWI Trench Gun was made in 1918. It features the correct type “W” handguard/bayonet adapter, and is marked “Pat. Appl. For”. The metal has approximately 80% of its original finish. The correct factory buttplate is on the stock. The barrel and receiver have no martial markings. It is believed that less than 20% of WW1 trench guns were martially marked, and that was after the war when they were sent to other government facilities, such as the post office (Canfield's book on combat shotguns pg. 51-53, 286). It probably originally sold as surplus after the war to the Richmond, Viginia Police department. All items are also available for sale in our brick & mortar store and are subject to prior sale.
