As the title says, this is a beautiful 1929 Gebruder Merkel SxS shotgun. 29 1/2" barrels with factory 2 3/4" chambers (stamped 70mm). Cyl/IC chokes, nitro proofed, ejectors. Boxlock with cocking indicators and cross bolt. Tight as the day it was made. Pistol grip with long tang straight grip and beautiful 4x wood with modern dimensions, 28 lpi checkering, no cheek piece, correct 1/2" sling swivels, correct period red rubber recoil pad showing wear consistent with the rest of the gun (may be original). Jeweled finish fore end iron. Very fine, full coverage engraving in excellent condition. Loads of stampings/proofs on the action flats and barrel table. Comes with a leg-0-mutton leather case with Gebruder-Merkel tag. Weight is a bit over 6 lbs, (6lbs, 1.1oz). LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 1/8", DAC 1 7/16". Fantastic quail, ruffled grouse and woodcock gun that you can carry all day- really does carry like a 20ga and shoots like a 12! Will rate it 90+% overall. You need to see this shotgun to appreciate the artistry and the wood. The pics are ok, but they cannot do a classic like this justice. Very hard to find. $100 shipping, 3% surcharge for using a CC.
