Description:
REVOLUTIONARY WAR ERA GEORGE III FLINTLOCK TRADE FUSIL CIRCA 1770’S. Higher quality trade gun of the type intended for gifts to Indian notables and Chiefs. 64” overall with 48” round smoothbore .60 caliber barrel with faint London proofs at the left breech. Walnut stock with “BEAVERTAIL” carving about the barrel tang and handsomely engraved brass mounts. Early style initials “JH” carved on butt. Extra nice wrist plate with “SHELL” finial. Brown Bess pattern butt plate nicely engraved on the tang. Original flintlock configuration and not a reconversion with a replacement British Govt. trade lock circa 1830’s stamped “BLAIR” and having the Royal “CROWN/BROAD ARROW” Ordnance acceptance mark below the pan. Very good and original as described and with a repair to the side plate forward of the back screw. Original patinated metal finish and stock with the original finish as well. Very nice example with very long barrel and graceful stock. Original ramrod.
