Description:
#81907, Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf a/n: A 9 x 57 Mauser Commercial Mauser Sporter Type B Made in 1914, A 1914 Sporter that Absolutely and Totally appears Unfired, 24" round tapered barrel, Band island sight with 1 standing & 2 folding rear sights, Ramp front sight with the original sight hood, Barrel band sling eye, Correct pear shaped bolt handle, Single trigger, Rotating lever release hinged floorplate, Traditional half-stock style stock, Cheekpiece, Near wrap around point pattern checkering on the grip only; Every serial number everywhere matches including the stock, extractor, trigger, cocking piece and every other part, The internal inletting looks just like it did 104 years ago when it meet the final assembly at Waffenfabrik Mauser, It is totally and completely free of any oil soak inside, 14 1/4" LOP over the Pre-WWI horn buttplate with the intertwined "WFM" logo, 6 lbs. 12 oz., The original barrel & receiver blue remains at 97%, The trigger guard & floorplate blue remains at 96%, The original stock finish remains at 90% with storage and handling marks only, The checkering is at 99%, The bore is brand new without any sign of jacket fouling, The bolt face has 100% blue, The bolt handle & bolt knob retain 99% blue, The trigger face has 100% heat blue, The floorplate lever release has 90% remaining heat blue, The action rails are bright & shiny, The entire bolt body has 96% blue remaining. I have no clue where this gun has been the last 104 years and I am most certain it never went hunting and if it did it never fired a shot. This is one neat Pre-WWI Type B with all the correct features of that era. I have had my share of Commercial Mauser Sporters but very few that are as honest as this piece.
