Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: Patterned after the French Model 1763 Charleville and Springfield Armory Model 1795 manufactured flintlock muskets, this early flintlock appears to be completely unmarked. The barrel is 44 inches in length and is approximately .70 caliber. Armory records indicate that the first known Springfield muskets bearing the eagle motiff and a date were made in 1799. So this could be an early pre-1799 Springfield musket, or an early Harpers Ferry produced around 1800. There were also a number of private contractors that made muskets for the government, or simply assembled parts sdupplied by the national armories. Ordinance correspondence of the era referred to these arms as "Charleville Muskets" or "Charleville Pattern". Regardless, this is certainly one of the earliest American made regulation shoulder arms, and it remains in working and literally untouched condition. The stock is sound with only small, age cracks and all parts appear completely original to date of manufacture. This is a great piece of history that is seldom found today in un-altered condition.
