FINE Colt 1908 VEST POCKET Pistol in .25 ACP
Colt’s Smallest Semi-Auto, Made in 1920
Here we present a Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket Pistol, made in 1920 in Hartford, Connecticut. This was another John Moses Browning design and it was Colt’s smallest semi-automatic pistol offering. It was marketed as a small concealable firearm which could be easily tucked into a vest pocket for unobtrusive carry. It is chambered for 6 shots of .25 ACP. This one was made just in time for the Roaring Twenties.
The left side of the barrel is marked “COLT’S P.T.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT.U.S.A./PAT’D AUG 25, 1896. DEC. 22, 1903 JAN.25.1910.”
The right side of the barrel is marked “COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 25”. The bottom of the grips is marked “CAL.25/COLT”. The rampant colt appears on both hard rubber grip panels as well as the rear left side of the slide.
The overall condition is fine. The original blue finish is about 80% intact. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The bore is clean, with good rifling and a frosted appearance. The original hard rubber grips are very good with a hairline crack in the left panel. The action on this pistol is excellent.
