This would have been a very nice revolver to put on a belt in the late 19th Century. It held 5 shots of .38 S&W. This one is nickel plated with red brindle hard rubber grips. The top of the barrel is marked with “SMITH&WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS U.S.A. PAT’D JAN. 17&24 ‘65/JULY 11 ’65 AUG. 24, ’69, JAN 19 1875. REISSUE JULY 25, 1871”. The overall condition is very good. The nickel finish is about 30% with a light brown patina overall. The hammer still features great case colors. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The bore is clean with sharp rifling. The grips are about fine, showing very little wear. The action on this revolver is excellent. This revolver looks like it has been there and done that and is still in great shape! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-1/4 inches.
