SCARCE Antique Hopkins & Allen “XL No. 2 ½” Revolver
Small, Blued, Single Action Revolver in .32 Rimfire!
Here we present an antique Hopkins & Allen XL No. 2 ½ Revolver, manufactured circa 1880 in Norwich, Connecticut. Hopkins & Allen were prolific makers of the popular revolvers. These pocket-sized revolvers were meant for civilian purchase for self-defense. This one holds 5 shots of .32 Rimfire. Hopkins & Allen primarily finished their guns in nickel and up-charged for the blued finish.
The top of the barrel is marked “HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG. CO./X.L. NO. 2 ½ /PAT.MAR. 28.1871 APR. 27. 1875”.
The overall condition is fine. The original blue finish is about 35%. The case colors on the hammer are about 60%. The markings are clear. The serial numbers match, including barrel, cylinder, axis pin, frame and grips. The original rosewood grips are in very good shape. The bore is clean with sharp rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a sharp little 19th Century revolver for your collection!
