Description:
Parker BH 12 Gauge Side-by-Side
ANTIQUE 1893, GORGEOUS ENGRAVING, MODERN DIMENSIONS, BARGAIN!

General Specs: Parker, Year 1983, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 9oz, SxS
Serial Number: 75744

The prestige of owning a fine Parker high-grade shotgun was afforded to only a scant few in the early days of the hammerless guns.  Once you got into the BH, or Grade 5 guns, you really hit the area of the elite buyers.  At $200 in 1893 it represented nearly a year’s wages for most.  The wood was European walnut with raised flor-de-lis drop points, fancy checkering, gold grip cap, and the skeleton butt plate. The action had beaded fences, full coverage English scroll engraving with game scene vignettes on all 3 sides of the receiver, game scene engraving on the trigger guard bow, and more than a few variations.  Until 1896 there was only one grade higher, the AH Grade, so the BH was a big deal.  This beautiful Parker, sn75744 made in 1893, is ready for modern ammunition and heavy use.  The gun shows as near new, with perfect screws and 100% finishes on all wood and metal.  The Damascus barrels were replaced with 30” modern steel barrels in Belgium and they are fit to perfection.  The bores are perfect mirrors and Briley screw-in chokes have been fitted to the gun to create the ultimate in versatility.  Shoot Skeet in the morning and geese in the afternoon.  The gun has been restocked with nice European walnut with modern shooting dimensions and the inletting, wood-to-metal fit, and the checkering has been done to perfection following the original Parker BH pattern for historical consistency.  The entire gun has been restored with 100% Turnbull case color and charcoal blue trigger guard.  The original skeleton butt plate and original gold grip cap was retained and remounted on the stock.  The gold grip cap has the original owners name inscribed “W.C. Dotterer, Little Rock, Ark. 1894”.  Nice touch!  For the avid shooter this is an awesome example of the beauty of an early high-grade Parker that is eminently useful for today’s shooting sports.  And, just as it was a tall task to own a fine Grade 5 Parker in 1894, it is equally difficult to own a high condition, all original Parker BH in today’s world where such a gun could cost over $20,000!  This gun is very affordable and still has all the mechanical excellence, original Parker hand engraving, and handling characteristics of an original Parker.  Thanks for looking and don’t let this one get away!  Shooters love these modernized Parker high-grades.
