SPRINGFIELD M1 GARAND NM .308 - BUILT BY MAC McCOY USN, 24" bbl, National Match front and rear sights, with a half minute rear sight aperture, very nice reworked stock with composite bedding, 4 ½ pound trigger, sling loops, leather sling, black metal compartment butt plate. This rifle will be a great addition to your collection.
About the Man: Donald “Mac” McCOY born February 23, 1920, Plain Grove County, PA, he was a retired Chief Warrant Officer United States Navy. His specialty was in Naval Gunnery. He was at NAS Kanehoe Bay, Hawaii (Pearl Harbor) when it was attacked by Japanese aircraft, December 7, 1941. He was a double distinguished, both pistol and rifle. He was a part of the US Navy Marksmanship Team. When on active duty, he made .308 modified M1’s for the US Navy Marksmanship Team. Don only worked on M1’s as a rule.
About this rifle: He glass (actually a composite) bedded this .308 M1, single lugged it (the lug is bolted to the stock with a 16 inch pound torque), gave it a 4-1/2 lbs. trigger (he autographed the Trigger Housing Group), and renewed the stock. The upper hand guard is glued in to keep it tight. It has National Match front and rear sights, with a half minute rear sight aperture. This is an accurized match rifle, built by the Guru of M1’s.
