Description:

Civil War Identified Remington New Model Army. This gun is in untouched as found condition. Almost like “attic” condition or “barn” condition with all of the rust and grime from the last 150 years. Grips are a dark tan color and it looks like this gun was stored in a dry climate. Gun is still functional. This gun is actually pretty sharp and the markings on the barrel address and the various inspectors marks are all visible and clear. By serial number, this gun was issued to 1st Sergeant Cyrus North on February 2nd, 1865 who was in company F of the 6th Michigan Volunteers. The 6th Michigan was present during the battle of Gettysburg and they were merged with the first Michigan Volunteers. Accompanying this gun is a letter from Frank Mallory of Springfield Research service. They were a company that researched military guns in the national archives. Very neat gun that was issued to a unit that saw service at Gettysburg.
